Cork Footbed

The footbed of Birkenstock comfort shoes is crafted from the bark of Mediterranean cork oak trees, ground into small particles and mixed with latex before being compressed into shape. Both the top and bottom are reinforced with layers of linen, making it lightweight, soft, and elastic. It provides excellent shock absorption.

Suede Lining

Every pair of Birkenstock comfort shoes is covered with a layer of soft, comfortable suede lining that feels great against the skin. This suede undergoes dyeing and color-setting processes, but slight color fading may occur during initial wear, especially if worn with white socks. This requires extra care.

Upper Material

Only the finest parts of premium cowhide are used for Birkenstock comfort shoe uppers. It’s rare to find leather of such thickness and durability that also offers softness and comfort. All leather is dyed through, ensuring a consistent color inside and out while maintaining the breathable and natural qualities of the material. This is fundamentally different from leather that is surface-coated or heavily processed.

Sole Material

The sole, made of Ethyl-Vinyl-Acetate (EVA), is soft, lightweight, and elastic. It not only cushions the impact of ground contact but also provides natural and complete movement conditions for the feet. EVA soles are also highly durable and offer excellent traction with the ground, making them ideal for long walks.

Design of Birkenstock Sandals

Birkenstock’s globally renowned cork footbed is designed to mirror the natural shape of healthy feet. The footbed aligns perfectly with the structure and motion mechanisms of foot bones, muscles, and ligaments.

The shoe’s design includes a straight side and a fan-shaped expansion from heel to toe, offering ample space for toe movement. This prevents issues like hallux valgus, often caused by wearing pointy shoes that squeeze the toes.

The completely flat design allows the heel to fulfill its natural role of bearing body weight, unlike heeled shoes, which disrupt body balance. High heels further shift the weight forward onto the forefoot and toes, leading to excessive pressure that can cause corns, calluses, and deformities.

The toe ridge encourages natural toe gripping while walking, promoting the flexing of the foot and calf muscles to enhance venous blood flow, fulfilling the role of “the feet as the body’s second heart.” In contrast, traditional pointed or high-heeled shoes prioritize aesthetics by tightly constraining the toes, restricting the natural movement of muscles, ligaments, and joints, and negatively affecting blood circulation in the lower limbs.

The arch support of the Birkenstock footbed provides perfect support for the body and enhances the shock-absorbing function of the foot arch.

The heel cup designed by Birkenstock helps maintain body balance, preserves the thickness of the heel’s natural padding, and enhances shock absorption, alleviating foot pain. There’s nothing more suitable than a Birkenstock footbed—experience its unparalleled comfort and support for yourself today!
